Clontarf Castle is a luxurious haven tucked away in suburban Dublin, two miles from the heart of the city and just five miles from Dublin Airport .
Situated in a quiet peaceful setting, Clontarf Castle Hotel is steeped in Irish history and dates back to 1172.
Clontarf Castle offers the guest all the charm and splendour of a unique and royal experience.
Day 2 Sept 19th
Golf at Royal Dublin
Royal Dublin
Different to most links courses, Royal Dublin is laid out almost entirely on flat land but still represents as formidable links test as you are likely to encounter. The layout is in the traditional out and back format so the two nines must be handled quite differently due to the prevailing winds. What can sometimes be a good score in the making is often quite literally blown off course during the return to the clubhouse.
As befits a course of Royal Dublin's stature, it has played host to a wide range of major events over the years, both amateur and professional. The Irish Open was staged at Royal Dublin from 1983 to 1985, being won twice by Seve Ballesteros and by Bernard Langer in 1984. The club has hosted the Irish Amateur Open from 1998 to 2002.
Day 3 Sept. 20th
Golf at Seapoint
One of the premier Links Championship courses on the East Coast of Ireland.
Par 72, measuring 7100 yds from the blue tee. Voted into Ireland’s top 25 golf courses, Seapoint is a course for golfers of all abilities and a superb test of golf.
Beautiful scenery borders the course on the west and offer a contrast to the links, while water hazards come onto play on six of the first nine holes.
The closing holes are bordered by the beach and offer magnificent views of the East Coast, the Mountains of Mourne and the Irish Sea.
Day 4 Sept 21st
Golf at St. Margarets or the option of attending the opening Ceremony
St Margaret's has been designed as a Championship Golf course and has already hosted 3 international tournaments.
It boasts big dramatic holes like the roller coaster twelfth which rolls between two lakes and across a babbling brook to a majestically elevated green. Seven of the par 4 holes are over 400yrds long and the mighty 8th is all of 525 yards - a big challenge for the biggest hitters.
As well as the awesome struggles there are broad forgiving fairways, neat par threes and greens that play very true on this fascinating course. As you cross a stream on stepping stones, or step back to admire your second landing inches from the pin, you'll find more to admire every day in St. Margaret's. Ryder Cup star Sam Torrance praised the eighteenth as " the best finishing hole I have ever seen.. and probably the strongest and most exciting in the world."
The proverbial 19th hole at St. Margaret's is more than a resting place for well worn putters and improbable stories of chipping in from rough. As well as the welcoming bar and restaurant there are unrivalled views across the entire course. Our unique computerized reservations system and friendly professional staff ensure that everything goes with a swing and, in the Golf Academy you can ensure that your swing goes even better.
