The Washington Redskins began in Boston in 1932 as the Boston Braves, just like the other Boston sporting team in baseball. The team changed the name a year later to the Boston Redskins to honor their part-Souix head coach, William "Lone Star" Dietz. They also moved to Fenway Park, but after several poorly attended seasons, the team moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937. They kept the Redskins name, but became the Washington Redskins.
